MY OLDEST SON ADAM WAS A PASSENGER IN A SERIOUS MOTORCYCLE ACCIDENT ON THE LATE NIGHT OF 8-19-2015. HE HAS A TRAUMATIC BRAIN INJURY. THIS IS OUR STORY OR MAYBE MORE GOD’S STORY IN OUR LIVES.

Update 10-1-2017
I had to get a new driver’s license not too long before Adam’s accident, probably a year before. My husband looked at the picture on my license yesterday, and wondered out loud how long ago it had been taken — I don’t know if he was kidding, (I didn’t really want to know how bad it is) 🙂
In my heart (and glancing in the mirror), I humbly know the toll these last couple of years have taken on me physically, and I know I have aged more quickly in other ways. But this is not always a bad thing.
The Bible reminds us to ask Him to teach us to ‘number our days’ (Psalm 90:12) so we might gain a heart of wisdom. Looking back, I have had plenty of reminders of how brief (a vapor) this life is — in all seriousness, I hope I am paying attention and I hope you all are taking it to heart too.
A merry heart makes a cheerful countenance, But by sorrow of the heart the spirit is broken. Pr 15:12
A merry heart does good, like medicine, But a broken spirit dries the bones. Pr 17:22
We have had laughter, and we have had much sadness. There is no doubt in the past and present sorrows, my spirit and my body has been broken. But a wise King (Solomon), reflected back on his life, his youth, the days that he had wasted, the foolish things of this world he had been distracted by):
Better to go to the house of mourning than to go to the house of feasting, For that is the end of all men; And the living will take it to heart. Sorrow is better than laughter, For by a sad countenance the heart is made better. Ecclesiastes 7:2-3
It seems like my outward appearance has not been made better, but hopefully my heart is. I am prayerfully taking it to heart, and when we look to God in these afflictions, our heart is softened towards others (hopefully).
Jesus comforted His disciples (before His death and resurrection for each and every one of us). He spoke to them of things to come. He loved them and He loved us all so much, that He gave His life to pay the price for our sins. But He said He had the power to take His life back up again. And when He died on the cross for our sins and rose again, He had the victory over sin, death and the grave. For those who have believed upon Him, death holds no more sting for us. He promised He will come back for us, and God does not lie.
A woman, when she is in labor, has sorrow because her hour has come; but as soon as she has given birth to the child, she no longer remembers the anguish, for joy that a human being has been born into the world. Therefore you now have sorrow; but I will see you again and your heart will rejoice, and your joy no one will take from you. John 16:21-22
Today, Adam had his sister and her daughter (his niece) come to visit him and care for him awhile. We spoke on the phone, and he was very cheerful. Who isn’t cheered up by a sweet baby?
Before this all happened, Adam began to grow up, and he learned to demonstrate his love in a more mature way for his sisters and brothers. Also to me. He was very happy when we spoke on the phone, and he told me she was ‘adorable’ and he loved her. And then he spoke to Koby (my youngest), it’s his birthday today. After a few exchanges Adam sang the Happy birthday song to Koby all by himself. (Which Koby wouldn’t let any of us do earlier — embarrassment). Then Adam volunteered, “I love you Koby”. Koby thought he said something else, and responded, but his sister corrected him saying “Adam told you he loved you” — so the birthday boy answered back quickly, “I-love-u-2” 🙂 (I’m sure some of you are familiar with teen boys).
Adam was happy today, and laughing a lot. For those of you during this time who wrongly praise or attribute strength in any way to me, trust me, it’s just the opposite. He helps me and has sent some wonderful helpers and friends. There are many who have surrounded me, and helped me and Adam, and done far more than I have in my trauma.
Last night as many nights, as I pray for Adam and those who surround him, tears still so quickly flood my eyes, and my heart once again feels torn in two. I wonder sometimes if this will lessen. But I do have the knowledge that He is close to me now, and that one day, my heart will rejoice, and it will last forever. For now in this world, where there is sin, poverty, sickness, accidents, hatred of people towards one another (and so much more) — there is sometimes much sorrow. Some of it comes from other’s choices, some from our own, and some from just living in this fallen and decaying world. Hard to comprehend what this world might of been like and will be again. But it was we who rebelled from the one who Created us. The One who desired for us to commune with Him in such a wonderful place that He made for us. Think on what it was to be able to name the animals, to walk among them freely. But because we didn’t believe God and disobeyed in just one thing — because of that, sin entered in, and that sin changed not only us, but the perfect world He created for us. Whether we admit it or not, what we do wrong (in God’s sight – not ours) affects others, and it also catches up with us. We also only partially see how it has affected this earth no matter how brilliant of a scientist one might be, you only partially comprehend.
Fortunately, He is a God of love (1 John 4:8) who in love gave Himself for us (John 15:13). Even though most of mankind don’t acknowledge Him and are not grateful nor thankful to Him — even so, He loves you. Because while we were yet sinners, Jesus demonstrated His love for us by dying for us so we wouldn’t be eternally separated from Him (Rom 5:6-8; John 3:16; 1 Jn 3:16).
I am not righteous (ask anyone who knows me) by the world’s standards, but because I believe on who Jesus is, and what He did for me in my place, He became my righteousness. He stands in front of me declaring me righteous.
The Word of God comforts not only me, but also Adam:
The righteous cry out, and the Lord hears, And delivers them out of all their troubles. The Lord is near to those who have a broken heart, And saves such as have a contrite spirit. Many are the afflictions of the righteous, But the Lord delivers him out of them all. Psalms 34:17-19
One day, those who have believed upon Him will be absent from these dying bodies, and present with Him, in new glorified bodies, free from sin and death. For those who have rejected His free offer of eternal life, they face an awful fate. Please, do not wait to put your faith in HIM alone for your salvation from this terrible place. He has done it all, He died for YOU, for YOUR sins, to save YOU. I know there are so many confusing messages out there, seems impossible to even try. I think that people see the ‘religious’ among them with their signs or their bullhorns, or their door to door handouts, nor how many daily masses they attend, or whatever religion we may see and think is good — still none are enough to reach God, and many will lead you down the wrong way. God made a promise in the garden of Eden of a Savior to come. He made the same promise with Abraham, that through he, Isaac and then Jacob would come a Savior who is Jesus Christ the Lord (the Prophets of the OT testified, when, where, how). Jewish friends — please look into the Old Testament Prophecies of the Messiah yourself!
There is only one way to get to God (according to Jesus) and He is it. There is only one truth (again according to Jesus). And there is only way to eternal life (again, according to Jesus). He is either who He said He is, or He is a liar, there is no in between. If He lied once, He is no ‘good man’, not a ‘good prophet’. He is either the great I AM, (God) — the way, the truth and the life, or not. He either was literally and physicallhy risen for the dead or there is no hope for any of us. I believe in who He said He was, and therefore, I do not believe that I will eternally die for my sins, but instead I freely have been given eternal life. So has Adam.
DEAR, DEAR FRIENDS: Thank you for your prayers so much. But for those of you who think they may know Him, or those that don’t. Please read my heartfelt words to you.
There is no work, no religion, no good thing you can offer to have eternal life with God. There is nothing you can give up or stop doing (or promise to stop to doing in the future) to be saved. There is no commitment, no certain formula (or perfectly worded prayer), no ‘doing a 180’ in your life — nor a giving of your life (trust me, none of our lives are any gift worth giving to Him). Please, just believe His Word and not men or most church’s religious statements of what you can do to be saved. Instead, please believe upon the Lord Jesus Christ (who He is and what He did for you) and you SHALL be saved.

So moving Holly! Our Father is faithful even when we aren’t. He has brought life to Adam even in a situation that was and is devastated.
The Lord has brought hope and eternal life to Adam as Adam has believed and trusted Jesus. God has and will continue to carry you through this journey as you wait for His return or Him taking you home. I am so grateful to God for His Free Gift to whosoever will believe and put their trust in Him. I’m so grateful for our oneness in Him. I’m eager to spend eternity with Him and with you sweet sister. You and your family are in our prayers daily, we will continue.
Please tell Koby a Happy Birthday for me. May God give you refreshing as you rest in Him.

Yes He is, and because we are His body, He cannot deny Himself. God carries us and never leaves or forsakes us. I will tell Koby, we appreciate and love you all. ❤ Love in Christ.

Our times our in His hands
You made me think of a couple of things Curtis. Besides Ecclesiastes 3, I also thought on this passage from Ecclesiastes 11. Verses 3 and 4 are especially poignant to me as I told the Lord all the reasons I was was good enough, worthy enough, smart enough, brave enough, wise enough etc. to serve Him. I could do things behind the scenes, but I just was not the one. And the more I read, seeing Job say, ‘and lo, I am not worthy’… and 1 Cor 1, regarding the ignoble, foolish, weak and base, and so it was as if this was saying, just DO IT. Spread seed (bread), sow, you will never reap if you never sow… And so I started. And so He helped me. Praying for you and Dorothy and your family.
1 Cast thy bread upon the waters:
for thou shalt find it after many days.
2 Give a portion to seven, and also to eight;
for thou knowest not what evil shall be upon the earth.
3 If the clouds be full of rain,
they empty themselves upon the earth:
and if the tree fall toward the south, or toward the north,
in the place where the tree falleth, there it shall be.
4 He that observeth the wind shall not sow;
and he that regardeth the clouds shall not reap.

Love these updates… Everyone of them is truly a gift to those who don’t KNOW the Lord… And for those that do, we are so Grateful for your undying WORDS of the Lord to help those who don’t yet believe.. To BELIEVE!!! So thank you…a blessing this blog is to both the saved and unsaved!!!
I know what that’s like… To look in the mirror and a picture and cringe, cry, and even crack up at the difference… In such a VERY short time… Hope sin and the cares if this life just instantly catch up with us… Out of no where, the grey, the wrinkles…the bags from sleepless nights… Sigh… We’re aquatinted with sorrow that’s for sure… It’s actually what drew me to you… YOUR SORROW drew me in… How does she care for her dying husband and all those kids? Where does she get THAT kind of strength from the LORD? Where’s the tap on that? Cause I want some of THAT strength!!! The kind that’s normal… The kind that would get me through just one more day… Cause today was just to much for me to bare… But seeing you not only survive the days… But THRIVE on them… Made me WANT IT!! Your answer to me that day and everyday since to not just me… But the WHOLE WORLD, was something I’d heard a million times in my Christian Life…. THE WORD… THAT’S what gets you through the day… The hour… The minute … The seconds!!! Drawing strength from the WORDS of our Saviour… Thank you for being the woman of weakness… So HIS STRENGTH can be shown for HIS GLORY… And it does over and over in your LIFE!! I praise Him for you constantly… Knowing if you can do it through His STRENGTH… So can I!!! 😀
You gone and did it… (made me cry).
Yes, His Word. Food for the eater, seed for the sower. It revives us when our soul clings to the dust, strengthens us when our melts for the heaviness we bear. But He tells us to bring our burdens to Him, and He will give us rest. Our feet time… we need it, and we forget, because we are so (meaning me) easily distracted. Yes, we have things to do in this life. I’d just as soon not move and stay in His Word lol, because I’d do a whole lot better.
Dear Holly: Greetings unto you and to all of your household, this very early 2:37 am. I am checking- in that I read your journal update and to let you know that I care about Adam’s journey and care about you and all of your loved ones, and friends, thus sending you and Adam and all, an expression of my sincere heart’s desire for now and the tomorrows ahead to be filled with the Peace of our God that surpasses all understanding as you all go step by step though most challenging times following and looking unto Christ Jesus,The Author and Finisher of our faith.
Sister Holly, I would that there be no fiery trials, suffering, nor sorrows for any. Yet, I trust in God’s Holy Writ that teaches and trust in His Holy Spirit of Truth that guides and comforts us in all troubles. What is written is written and His Word is inerrant and stands forever. In mine own crippling infirmities, I see in The Word, the marks of the New Birth, of which The Lord our God hath given unto the children of God, of which are manifest in you, in Christ, for as unto so much is given, much is required.
By the inspiration of His Spirit Saint John speaks unto us of what we have been given, in us, of Him; and of this understanding, I am sure that you have received, grace unto grace. “Whosoever believeth that Jesus is the Christ is born of God, & every one that loveth him that begat loveth him also that is begotten of him. By this we know that we love the children of God, and keep his commandments; and his commandments are not grievous. For whatsoever is born of God OVERCOMETH the world: and this is the VICTORY that OVERCOMETH the world , even our FAITH. Who is he that OVERCOMETH THE WORLD, but he that believeth that Jesus is the Son of God? This is he that came by water and blood, even Jesus Christ; not by water only , but by water and blood . And it is the Spirit that beareth WITNESS because the Spirit is Truth. For there are three that beareth RECORD in heaven,The Father, The Word, and the Holy Ghost; and these three are one. And there are three that bear WITNESS in earth, the Spirit, and the water, and the blood: and these three agree in one. You are an OVERCOMER.- (19-20) “and we know that we are of God , and the whole world lieth in wickedness.” ~ “And we know that the Son of God hath come, and hath given us an understanding, that we may know him that is true, and WE ARE IN HIM THAT IS TRUE, even in his Son, Jesus Christ. This is the true God , and eternal life”. Sister Holly, you are in him that is true, You have the WITNESS and the TESTIMONY, and the RECORD OF GOD OF HIS SON IN YOU. ~ Jesus said of us: In this life, you will have tribulation: but rejoice, I have overcome the world.” Saint John speaking of false prophets, unbelievers’, and the anti-christs ‘ spririts’ said : “Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them; because Greater in He that is IN you, than he that is in this world.” ~ Even though my earthen vessel may be infirm, and who knows what tomorrow shall bring? ~ that I may not be enabled to write to you, again, this is the encouragement I send now to you and to all, from The Word of God. ~”For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world; and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our Faith.” ~ Love always, Jeri May ~
Jeri Ann, I remember as a little girl believing on Jesus. I believed what the Word of God said about who He was. I believed on what He had done for my sins. I was happy in Him. I talked to Him every day, just simple little girl chatter. Asking Him questions. How was He always there? When would I be able to fly? If I had enough faith could I fly? 🙂
He protected me I know from many near accidents of my attempting to fly, one time from the roof of the house with my fiberglass shingle wings 🙂 The Lord is so good. I got led astray in church after church, who used bits and pieces of God’s Word and their own interpretations and began to get waylaid and back into bondage of the law. The trials of this world and my own husband’s impending death were some of the things that sent me back to His Word. Learning what a Berean really was, and I found that most didn’t appreciate it. But the Lord did and that what was mattered. Learning to prove all things by what was good (1 Thess 5:21), holding fast to it. Knowing what He had written to me ahead of time was for my instruction, that through the patience and comfort of the Scriptures were for my hope. Finding out about His character, and learning more about the whole counsel of God, well, that time will never be taken from me, I know because He assures me of this (Lk 10:39-42).
I pray for you Jeri, that the Lord may help you in your infirmities, and appreciate in love the encouragement from His Word you send faithfully from 1 Jn 5:4-5. That passage has special meaning to me, along with these verses:
I believe God’s testimony of Jesus, and I now possess eternal life, and am looking forward in comfort to that day, but occupying until He comes. Praise the Lord, and thank Him for all that He works in our lives, for His great love and sacrifice for us.

9 If we receive the witness of men, the witness of God is greater: for this is the witness of God which he hath testified of his Son.
10 He that believeth on the Son of God hath the witness in himself: he that believeth not God hath made him a liar; because he believeth not the record that God gave of his Son.
11 And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son.
12 He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life.
13 These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.

Brian, it’s hard when the one’s we love get sick, go through trials, but I know that He is always with us, and I thank Him for the trials which helped me grow closer to Him. I know He never left me, I just had not been fellowshipping with Him at all, mostly due to bad teaching in load-ship churches, and I just couldn’t live up to it, and after awhile, I was mostly in the world, so there wasn’t much of a chance for me or so I thought. I don’t know how to rightly thank Him, but I am so very grateful, and I pray I give back just a little of all He has done for me. May the Lord bless you both.
